Paraset radio power supply.
There is also a nice all brass key connected to the rig out of the photo to the left.
Probably an early version.
This 6l6 puts out about 7 8w with 58ma anode current.
One of my ham radio buddies calls this the paraset mini cooper.
Input to vibrator 2 2a.
Drawing from on5lj.
Since it s small qrp power and size and operates on two of the current ham bands it seemed ideal for my glow bug project.
And with a main power supply.
The paraset would have been our ideal radio.
Background i first heard of a paraset when i saw a message on the qrp l reflector announcing an upcoming june 6th paraset d day activity.
It has 2 of the 12ba6 tubes for the regen radio and 2 of 12aq5 s for the little cw transmitter.
Some differences were made during the war.
The method to wiring this radio was done in stages.
It has no screenprint.
I started with the power supply and voltage divider lower left of the photo i wanted to test the linear regulator for the 6 3v filaments as well.
I tested the power with a breadboard transmitter with nearly the same circuit as the paraset.
Consisting of transformer rectifier tube 6x5gt and a capacitor.
Power supply for mk vii.
The power supply is also tested september 15 1953 the power supply is very simple.
With a test of the 12a6 the output was about 2 2w 40ma at battery current of 1 5a.
The switch is the 80 40 meter bandswitch.

For other radios separate forums can be set up ask the quartermaster.
The transmitter has the paraset style parallel series tuned tank circuit and seems to load well even with a random length wire antenna.
A search for more information soon revealed that the paraset was a small vacuum tube transmitter receiver unit built during wwii in the uk at the whaddon hall headquarters of the secret intelligence service communications unit.
With a 12v6 the output was nearly 4 5w 50ma and 1 8a from battery.
Paraset schematic from radio communication 1982 pdf on5lj s drawings.
What organization used this radio in 1953.
The power supply delivers 6 vac and 350vdc.
12v 24ah battery is used.

The only real issue i had with these circuits was the linear regulator would not start with all three tubes.
