Push and hold the button in. If your bathroom door has a button lock from the inside and a little hole on the knob on the outside as seen in the above video then a screwdriver can certainly help you out. If the locking mechanism is a latchbolt the kind of bolt that is spring loaded and has one angled edge and the angled edge is facing away from you you can hook it with a wire hanger. Once the door is open try to actuate the door latch with the handle.

The knob will not turn to retract the stuck door latch. Use the screwdriver to push the opposite side of the doorknob from the door and latch. Pull the spindle from the center of the latch if applicable. You re going to need a screwdriver with a skinny rod because the thicker rod won t be able to fit through the hole.

Check the alignment of the deadbolt against the strike on the jamb if the lock is difficult to turn when the door is closed or the door doesn t lock at all. Use a file to widen the hole on the strike or remove the strike with a screwdriver and reposition it on the jamb. Thread the screwdriver through the large spindle. Start by trying to push the lock button.

More force is needed to turn the knob and unstick the latch. A door knob lock button stuck has a few quick fixes that you can try out.
